Soooo... whew... man, it's been a while since I've come to this place, huh? I mean, I've been visiting the forums every day, but I practically went inactive here. My last update was... *doublechecks* October 22nd. Over a month ago, really?! Yikes.
I didn't mean to let my comic go completely inactive. I hoped to finish the storyline or at least reach #200 before taking a break. But I guess my comic just got caught on a snag and wouldn't come undone. Soon after the last comic I got to work on this one, I knew what I wanted to do with it. In fact, I quickly breezed through the first three panels almost right away. But then I just sort of got... I dunno, scared of working on the obese 1-Up sprite. Not terribly sure why, I suppose it started off as just laziness and putting it off till "tomorrow". But as time passed I started thinking that maybe the whole thing was a mistake, that the image of fat 1-Up would gross people out and/or ruin 1-Up's character and appeal. But I had already made a portion of the upcoming plot involve this, and I wasn't up for majorly rewriting anything. So basically I was stuck with a plot I was scared to continue and a 3/4 done comic. For over a month.
Plus Super Mario Galaxy came out sometime halfway through that and there was no way I was going to work on a smelly comic then.
But today I just got bored and decided what the heck, let me finish this dang thing. And really, I can't believe how easy it was; I feel like kicking myself. The sprite itself was really easy and took like twenty to thirty minutes tops, and it ended up so cartoony and (in my opinion) perfect for an "over-stuffed bag" look that there's no way anyone could get grossed out by comparing it to a real obese person. So much fuss and worry over nothing, heh.
Anyway, there you go. A comic a month in the making. Hopefully I won't disappear again until the storyline is finished. Unless I get snagged on that dang two hundredth comic...
