Yup, it finally happened. Over four months after the original release date, the fabled Stinkoscape 40 is finally here in all its 2-minute flashimated glory. Before going on about all the stuffs I did, I'll just take a few moments to say some other boring things.
I am aware that there are a few flaws in the flash movie. Particularly noticable is that part where the windows are all locked down and the metal shields are slightly visible in the row above where they should be. This is only partially due to laziness on my part: it would take a ridicuously large amount of effort to fix such a small problem, and I really couldn't be bothered. It doesn't make the scene any less awesome, I'm sure.
I am also aware that considered that this is supposed to be a sprite comic, there are very few actual sprites. I really don't give much of a squid, because it has a spritey feel about it, and since I'm not that great at custom sprites (hence the fact that I have practically zero custom sprites), the semi-sprites are the best I can do without driving myself mad.
Alrighty, now that that's been pshooooed, the storyline as continued: the trio rush into the underground shelter, quickly activated all of the security devices in Stinkoman HQ. Meanwhile, the mysterious comet continues to approach, eventually annihilating the building. Is this the end of our trio?! Nobody shall ever know! Mwa-ha-ha! Well, not until Season 5, anyway.
There are two major custom sprites in this thing, being Stinkoman HQ from the outside (which took ages), and the console inside the shelter. I'm especially pleased with how the console turned out, regardless of the sub-pixelation (see above rant about driving self mad). Another thing I'm particularly proud of is the preloader at the start: if you didn't notice, the percentage goes up in Base 11 (ie. using the exty numbering system). That took me a good half hour to code, but I figure that I really oughta start using Base 11 thoroughly in Stinkoscape. (I didn't, however, put Base 11 in the countdown timers. That would just suck my brains out.)
Credit is all at the end of the movie, and yes, I know the explosion at the end looks horribly fake and will probably lag your computer up badly, but I lack the skill to make a decent looking explosion in a short period of time. SO YOU NO COMPLAIN. Same with how the music cuts out suddenly before the heartbeats - I didn't know how to fade it out easily.
That seems to have about covered it. Watch it, tell me what you thought, and let me know if it was really worth the four month wait. There are two easter eggs (minor, but still existant), so have fun poking them out. I haven't made a transcript because it doesn't really seem necessary, and I haven't voiced the characters because... well, that's pretty obvious. I'm sure it won't be a four month wait before the next season (hopefully), so be happy about that. Woo.
