How To do things on the Wiki
Perhaps you would like to know how to edit, how to use recent changes or want to know what a watchlist is? There's far too much information to be easily explained here, so if you've never used a wiki before or just want help on some certain features check out the MediaWiki Manual. It's divided into sections so going directly to what you're looking for is very easy.
How To Post a Fanstuff
The first and most important step is to read the Fanstuff Guidelines. Once you've done that, read all of the policy pages. Congratulations, you are now equipped to create a fanstuff!
Recommended: if you are new to wikis we recommend reading the above section first, as it will make understanding this section a lot easier.
Creating a fanstuff is a very easy process. First you'll need a name for your fanstuff. Make sure the name isn't taking by entering it into the search box on the left. Once you have a unique name, simply go to that page and create it! If you need any images, upload them. Your fanstuff may require more than one page: create subpages for any additional pages you require. (If your fanstuff is FANSTUFF NAME then one subpage could be called FANSTUFF NAME/subpage name). Create as many subpages as you need. Once you think it's ready, add your fanstuff to the appropriate portal as well as the new stuff portal.
The Fanstuff Organization page has some more detailed information on the above steps, so if you don't quite understand something, check that page for more information. If you still need help, ask on the forum and we'll help you out.
How To Make a Signature
If you're logged in, you can just click on this link to go to your signature page. Otherwise, you'll need to go to User:USERNAME/sig (replacing USERNAME with your username, of course).
Your signature page is where you store your signature. It can be as simple or as complex as you like, as long as you follow the rules for signatures. The intent of your signature is so that whenever you sign your name, everybody will be able to instantly recognise you based just on the colour or style of your signature. For example, Super Sam's signature is in bold and uses alternating blue and green colours.
A knowledge of CSS is helpful, but not required. Here is some basic HTML for changing what your signature looks like:
Changing color: <span style="color: red;">Text</span> turns into Text
Changing font: <span style="font-family: Comic Sans MS;">Text</span> turns into Text
Changing position: Text turns into Text
You can combine one or more of these: <span style="color: green; font-family: Times New Roman;">Text</span> turns into Text
images:[[File:Terrell.png]] turns into![]()
If you need some help in designing your sig, drop a message on the forum and somebody will be able to help you out.
Once you've designed your signature, the next step is to go into your preferences and enter this into your signature box:
{{User:USERNAME/sig}}
Once again replacing USERNAME with your username. Tick the box that says "Treat signature as wikitext" and then save your preferences. You now have a personalised sig! You can edit your signature page whenever you like and all instances of your signature across the wiki will automatically update.
Whenever you make a post on a talk page, just sign your name with ~~~~. That's about it! Just remember to follow the rules and you'll be on your way to having an easily identifiable sig in no time.
