UNKNOWN VOICE: {unseen, screen remains black} I may meet up with you often... but does that neccisarily mean I like you? {a black and white image of a hand putting the gem in the bag fades in} That's why I've done this. But who will know, you freak? No one.

{the screen opens up to strong bads office. strong bad is lounging around. a burning cigar is in his astray. his phone rings}

STRONG BAD: {picks up the phone} Hello?

MARISSA: {on the other end} Strong bad! Thank goodness you've picked up.

STRONG BAD: Couldn't you just call me later if I wasn't here?

MARISSA: I couldn't! This is my only phone call!

STRONG BAD: You're in jail?!? {smiles} What did you do!? This is the first time you've done something bad!

MARISSA: Someone framed me for robbery! Help me! I'm alone and scared!

STRONG BAD: Just calm down!

MARISSA: Okay, I can't really talk that long, so come down to the detention center later. I need you to help me out!

STRONG BAD: I am not a lawyer.

MARISSA: Not like that. I need you to help find the real culpret. You know, do some dectective work!

STRONG BAD: Well, why me?

MARISSA: You're the only person with half a brain around here!

GUMSHOE: {angry, on the other end} Hey, pal! That's it! This call is over!

MARISSA: No! {the phone hangs up}

STRONG BAD: Poor gumshoe. {talking in his dangeresque tone} This seems like a job for {puts on his sunglasses} Dangeresque, and dangeresque only.

{cuts to the detention center. strong bad walks in}

GUARD: Hello, sir. Who would you like to see?

STRONG BAD: Marissa, apparently.

{the guard walks out of the room. after two seconds, he walks back in, marissa walking up to the glass}

STRONG BAD: I can't believe you stole!

MARISSA: {angrily} I did not!

STRONG BAD: Then, who did?

MARISSA: Well, don't ask me!

STRONG BAD: Then how do you know you didn't do it?

MARISSA: {furious} Because I DIDN'T!!

STRONG BAD: Waagh! {falls backwards. gets up again} Do you have any suspicions?

MARISSA: The only people who could have done it were... {sniffs} were..... {bawls} my best frieeeends!

STRONG BAD: Welcome to the world.

MARISSA: {sniffs} All I know is that someone fabricated evidence.

STRONG BAD: How?

MARISSA: Well, they erased my book club meeting from my schedual...

{schedual info added to court record}

{schedual erased added to logic}

STRONG BAD: Well, all they'd need would be a pencil.

MARISSA: Well, I write mine in pen...

{written in pen added to logic}

MARISSA: Anyways, you should do some investigating.

STRONG BAD: Wait, why should I help you? You take my money and try to beat me up!

MARISSA: If you help me, I'll give you half of the money I've gotten from you.

STRONG BAD: Sweet!

{the screen pans to the tiny sprites.}

CORINNE: {offscreen} Marissa! {runs up to the window}

MARISSA: Corinne!

STRONG BAD: Who are you?

CORINNE: I'm sorry. I'm Corrine Trace.

STRONG BAD: Are you the robber, or something?

CORINNE: How dare you!

STRONG BAD: Sorry, sorry.

MARISSA: Strong Bad's investigating for me.

CORINNE: That sleaze bag? {whispering to marissa} I'm gonna follow him to see that he's real...

{investigation start}

STRONG BAD: Well, maybe I should think back a second...

{logic: written in pen/schedual erased}

STRONG BAD: Wait!

CORRINE: What?

STRONG BAD: So, a large part of your planner was erased.

MARISSA: Right.

STRONG BAD: We can also be sure this isn't your writing!

MARISSA: Huh?

STRONG BAD: What did you say you write with?

MARISSA: A pen...

CORINNE: Aha!

STRONG BAD: Exactly! The culprit didn't erase your schedual, but rewrote it!

MARISSA: So?

STRONG BAD: So, we can be sure the culprit had plenty of time to use your schedual!

{culprits access added to logic}

{zoom in to Corrines big sprite}

CORRINE: Yes?

STRONG BAD: What do you know about the crime?

CORRINE: Well, here's the rundown:

{a grey image of the tres bien is shown. four green circles are around the table, containing an m, ca, co, and n.}

CORRINE: Me, Marissa, and two of her friends were having lunch at the Tras Bien. At one point, A girl named Nova left momentarily. {the n circle dissapears} We were all finished with lunch, and went to pull out her wallet to pay. However, she pulled a gem {a pink circle with a g in it appears on the table} that was stolen earlier out instead. Two cops {two blue circles surround the m circle} came in and arrested Marissa immediately. {cuts back} That's about all I know.

{hand bag/gem info added to court record}

STRONG BAD: Two other friends?

CORRINE: Two girls, Nova and Casey.

STRONG BAD: I guess I should talk to them...

CORRINE: Not right now. Caseys at casino night at our school-

STRONG BAD: Casino night?

CORRINE: It's a fund raiser. She deals cards.

STRONG BAD: Okay.

CORRINE: And her other friend, Nova... Well, she hates virtually everyone.

STRONG BAD: So, doesn't that make her the prime suspect?

CORRINE: She was interrogated for over an hour, and wouldn't spill the beans. Same thing with Casey.

STRONG BAD: So... what should we do?

CORRINE: Well, we could check out the museum.

STRONG BAD: What will we do for permission?

MARISSA: Hello? Guards with pens and paper are two feet away from you!

STRONG BAD: Um... {turns to a guard} Could we-

GUARD: I am not in charge of that.

CORRINE: Okay. We'll ask for permission there.

{corrine grabs strong bad by the arm, and pulls him out of the room.}

{cuts to in front of a large grey building. two guards stand in front of the door. corrine and strong bad walk up to the guards}

CORRINE: May we examine the crime scene?

GUARD: No one may visit the crime scene. You may examine the rooms surrounding it.

CORRINE: Thank you.

{the two walk in}

{cuts to a large yellow room. paintings cover the walls. a houseplant wits in the corner. two benches sit in the middle of the room. a door leading to the side has yellow tape covering it. corrine and strong bad walk in}

CORRINE: Sometimes, you can find helpful evidence near the crime scene.

STRONG BAD: So, where should we look?

CORRINE: That's up to you.

{corrine and strong bad walk up to the house plant. the screen zooms in on it}

STRONG BAD: I guess we should check here...

{examine: the soil}

CORRINE: Looks like plain, brown, non-evidence worth soil.

{examine: the space behind the plant}

CORRINE: Anything back there?

STRONG BAD: Nothing but dead leaves and ants.

{examine: the leaves}

STRONG BAD: Huh. these leaves are really fake.

CORRINE: Um, this is a living tree...

STRONG BAD: Then what is this?

{evidence square: leave}

CORRINE: A weird, plastic leave. What's it doing here?

{leave added to evidence.}

{evidence examination: leave}

STRONG BAD: What should we look at?

{examine: stem}

{the leaves body opens, revealing a tiny, hidden mirror}

CORRINE: This is a mirror?

STRONG BAD: What's a mirror doing here?

{mirror function added to data}

{zooms back out to the room}

{examine: benches}

STRONG BAD: I should take a rest about now...

CORRINE: Stop! This is an almost crime scene!

STRONG BAD: Um...

{examine: cushions}

STRONG BAD: Cool!

CORRINE: What'd you find?

{evidence square: loose change}

STRONG BAD: Loose change!

CORRINE: What does that have to do with anything?

STRONG BAD: Nothing... ?

CORRINE: Correct.

{examine: under the benches}

STORNGB BAD: Ew...

CORRINE: What is it?

STRONG BAD: Someone spilled some soda down here.

CORRINE: Aw. I thought it was relevant.

{examine: broken tile}

CORRINE: Huh. These tiles seem so strong. Why would one break?

{broken tile added to logic}

???: You two! Leave!

CORRINE: Whaagh! {falls backwards} Who's there?

{a girl wearing a yellow shirt and yellow pant walks in, with baby blue hair curled into spirals. she appears to be about eleven years old}

???: Me! Now leave!

STRONG BAD: Are you trying to be as ugly as possible?

???: {gasps}

CORRINE: {hits strong bad} Shut it! {to ???} Why are you here?

???: This is daddies crime scene.

CORRINE: And you are...?

Beryl Oar

BERYL: I'm sorry. I'm Beryl Oar. I help dad with some of his cases.

STRONG BAD: So, why are we letting you kick us out?

BERYL: Daddy says that is you don't leave in the next two minutes, he'll be on you like cars on a rush-hour highway.

CORRINE: Run! {the two start to run}

BERYL: Ha ha ha!

{the two stop running}

STRONG BAD: Hey, whats so funny?

BERYL: It's only the room next to the crime scene! You can investigate to your hearts content!

{a ringing noise is heard.}

CORRINE: {pulls out her phone} I have to go. I'm pretty much dead if I get home after curfew. Bye! {runs off}

STRONG BAD: So, what should we investigate fir-

{suddenly, a loud crash is heard}

BERYL: Aah! {hides her hands in her arms}

STRONG BAD: Where did that come from?

BERYL: It sounded like... the crime scene. {gasps}

STRONG BAD: Whats wrong?

BERYL: Daddy could be hurt! Quick! {the two run into the other room.}

{cuts to another yellow room. strong bad and beryl run in through the only entrance. a body and blood flow are seen beneath a toppled statue. beryl and strong bad stop running. beryl begins to weep}

STRONG BAD: Holy crap, a dead person!

BERYL: Da... da... DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD! {begins weeping loudly and openly}

STRONG BAD: Quick! Lets take all we can get from him.

BERYL: What's wrong with you?!?

STRONG BAD: Sorry, sorry. But it's still cool. {whispering} Help me shove this in Strong Sads closet.

BERYL: That's my dad, not some lump of meat!

STRONG BAD: He's your dad?

BERYL: {angry} I've said that about a bajillion times! {calms} {mournfully} His name is Zinc Oar. He was a great detective, who solved tons of cases. Why would anyone do this to him?

STRONG BAD: First, we need to focus on one strange piece.

BERYL: Huh?!?

STRONG BAD: We just came in through the only entrance to this room, which was the room we were in. How did the criminal escape without us noticing?

{escape route added to logic}

{examine: dead body}

STRONG BAD: Man, this is cool...

{examine: body}

STRONG BAD: I think we can agree on the cause of death... And the weapon...

BERYL: Why did he have to die like this? {begins sobbing}

{body notes added to court record}

{examine:statue}

BERYL: That was daddied favorite statue. We would come and look at it each time we would come here!

STRONG BAD: I'm sorry.

BERYL: I miss him already...

{examine: lighter toned area}

STRONG BAD: So, the statue was pushed before falling.

{statue data added to court record}

{examine: corner tile}

STRONG BAD: Why is this tile so different?

BERYL: What do you mean?

STRONG BAD: Well, the color doesn't fit with the rest of the tiles!

{strange tile added to logic}

{logic: strange tile/escape route}

STRONG BAD: So, what we know for certain is that the murderer did not leave through the other room.

BERYL: We would have seen them.

STRONG BAD: But, around the crime scene, we found a tile that's material and color does not fit with the pattern. Could it have been used to hide the path out?

BERYL: One second.

{zoom in on the corner. the tile comes off, revealing a hidden passage}

STRONG BAD: This is beginning to look like one of those boring crime shows marzipan watches...

BERYL: If the murderer needed to escape quickly, wouldn't this be the quickest path?

STRONG BAD: I call first!

{strong bad tries to enter, but can't}

STRONG BAD: Man, this is small! You'd have to be rediculously thin to go through it!

BERYL: I'm rediculously thin! I could try it!

STRONG BAD: Okay, Once you exit, report right back here.

BERYL: Got it!

{investigation complete}

{quick black screen fade. strong bad is impatiently waiting impatiently}

STRONG BAD: What's taking her so long?

BERYL: {offscreen} Let me go!

GUMSHOE: {offscreen} Sorry, pal.

STRONG BAD: Hey, whats going on?

{gumshoe walks in. beryl is walking in front of him, wearing hand cuffs}

STRONG BAD: What happened?

GUMSHOE: Well, we were called about a murder here, and found miss Beryl behind the museum.

STRONG BAD: What?!?

GUMSHOE: It seems like she's the prime suspect.

STRONG BAD: Tell me how!

{testimony - Suspicions}

GUMSHOE: It's very easy to blame this on Beryl, pal. We recieved a call at 3:40 from security. Mr. Zinc, the head detective on this case, was killed by a statue. Beryl was seen leaning over him on security footage. To top it off, Beryl was using a passage, opened in here, to leave through the back.

{end testimony}

STRONG BAD: That's your reason for suspecting her?

GUMSHOE: Yep. It sounds pretty solid to us.

STRONG BAD: If that were only true...

{rebuttal - Suspicions}

GUMSHOE: It's very easy to suspect Beryl, pal. We recieved a call at 3:40 from security.

{objection: Autopsy report}

STRONG BAD: I'm sorry, but thats impossible.

GUMSHOE: Really?

STRONG BAD: For two reasons, actually. First, Beryl was helping me with my investigation when we heard the statue hit the floor.

GUMSHOE: You'll need to show me some proof, pal.

STRONG BAD: Like I said, I have two reasons. {evidence square: Autopsy report} Did you, by chance, get a good autopsy?

GUMSHOE: Sorry, pal, I didn't.

STRONG BAD: Then look at this. We heard the statue fall at 3:47.

GUMSHOE: Aah!

STRONG BAD: Care to explain this seven-minute gap?

GUMSHOE: I can't!

STRONG BAD: But I think I know who can... the security guard.

GUMSHOE: Lets go see what he has to say.

{the three run off}

{cuts to a grey room. a lare desk with a spinning chair is there. screens cover the wall. the three walk in}

GUMSHOE: Wh- Whaaaat?!?

BERYL: He isn't here?

STRONG BAD: Hmm...

GUMSHOE: Still, Beryl does have a huge motive.

{testimony: Motive }

GUMSHOE: It's simple, really. Mr. Zinc Oar was a famous investigator, so she must have known he would find her out. So he would find her out if she had comitted the robbery. She dind't care it was her father, she wanted to save herself!

{end testimony}

BERYL: But... but... this is all circumstantial!

GUMSHOE: Oh, and cam Strong bad prove me wrong?

STRONG BAD: Yes, and I will!

{rebuttal: motive}

GUMSHOE: It's simple, really. Mr. Zinc Oar was a famous investigator, so she must have known he would find her out. So he would find her out if she had comitted the robbery. She dind't care it was her father, she wanted to save herself!

{objection: autopsy report}

GUMSHOE: You're showing me the autopsy again?

STRONG BAD: Theres one part I would like you to look at. {thinking} What do I show him now?

{present: stain}

GUMSHOE: I don't see what a water stain has to do with anything...

STRONG BAD: I could see how you would think that. But that's because you don't know what it is!

GUMSHOE: Um... no, I don't.

STRONG BAD: This was made by Beryls tears!

GUMSHOE: Huh? I don't see the meaning...

STRONG BAD: Beryl cared deeply for her father. You honestly think she would kill him over a circumstance that most likely didn't happen?

GUMSHOE: Aah!

STRONG BAD: And, like I've already stated, she was with me the whole time!

GUMSHOE: Can you prove that?

STRONG BAD: Yes, I can. There is a security camera in the crime scene. We could check that and prove Beryl's innocent. Plus, we may catch the killer.

GUMSHOE: Okay, pal!

{fade out}

GUMSHOE: A... AAAH!

{fade back}

BERYL: What is it?

GUMSHOE: The killer... they aren't shown!

STRONG BAD: What?!?

GUMSHOE: The statue fell when the tile was pushed up. They never exited the tunnel!

STRONG BAD: {thinking} Hm... a murderer who wasn't caught by the tape at the crime scene... they would have to know of the cameras existance... {speaking} Give us the tape!

GUMSHOE: I'll need permission... can you just take note?

STRONG BAD: {sighs} Fine.

{camera notes added to court record.}

GUMSHOE: What should we do now?

BERYL: I suppose... we could check the other crime scene?

STRONG BAD: There was another crime?

GUMSHOE: I think she means the Tres Bien, pal.

STRONG BAD: Cool! Another 'present' for strong sad!

GUMSHOE: A robbery happened, pal.

{Beryl and Strong bad leave the room.}

{cuts to the tres bien. three police officers are there. One is talking to a girl in a blue outfit. Her long red hair is held in place by a blue visor. strong bad and beryl walk in}

BERYL: {walks up to the questioning officer} Um, excuse me, sir, but...

POLICE OFFICER: What were you doing here?

???: I was with Marissa!

BERYL: {yelling} SIR!!

{the police officer falls over backwards. he gets up quickly.}

BERYL: Could we investigate the crime scene?

POLICE OFFICER: Never do that again, ok?

BERYL: I'm sorry...

???: Does this mean I'm free to go?

POLICE OFFICER: Sure...

STRONG BAD: Sorry, but no.

???: Huh?

STRONG BAD: We're investigating a crime, and you seem to be a witness.

{large sprites shown}

???: I'm sorry.

STRONG BAD: Who are you?

CASEY: Where are my manners? I'm Casey Hart, and I'm a card shark. {holds out the two of clubs} That officer was treating me like the lowest card in the deck!

STRONG BAD: They were just trying to find out about the body.

CASEY: ...gem.

STRONG BAD: Whatever.

CASEY: I can't believe Marissa would do such a thing!

STRONG BAD: I know it's tough, but she's innocent.

CASEY: Really?

BERYL: Who's Marissa?

STRONG BAD: She was accused of being a robber.

BERYL: Huh?

CASEY: Accused? What do you mean?

STRONG BAD: She didn't rob any museum!

CASEY: You've got to be kidding me! {houlds out the ace of diamonds} I saw her pull out that gem with my own eyes!

BERYL: Well, we still need permission...

POLICE OFFICER: You may examine the crime scene, but you can't remove anything.

STRONG BAD: Agreed.

{begin investigation}

{examine: table}

STRONG BAD: So, the gem was here?

BERYL: Yes. Apparently, Homestar saw i-

STRONG BAD: It was Homestar!

{examine: purse}

STRONG BAD: Is that the purse Marissa used?

POLICE MAN: Yes. But we're done examining it, so you can feel free to examine it.

{purse added to court record}

{examine:purse clamp}

{the purse opens}

BERYL: Tee-he! You lok so girly looking through that!

STRONG BAD: Shut up.

{examine: small red vile}

STRONG BAD: Huh? {evidence square: nailpolish} Marissa doesn't wear nail polish.

BERYL: Seems like a clue, of sorts...

{nail polish added to court record.}

{examine: banana}

STRONG BAD: She kept a banana in her purse?

BERYL: Oh, cool! {evidence square: banana} I have the exact same phone!

STRONG BAD: Phones just get weirder, don't that?

BERYL: Should we press redial?

STRONG BAD: Sure...

{zoom out. a ringing is heard, casey pulls out a phone.}

CASEY: Hello?

{hang up}

STRONG BAD: She last called Casey?

{banana-phone added to court record}

{back to scene.}

{talk: casey}

CASEY: What's up?

{present: nail polish}

STRONG BAD: Did Marissa ever we-

CASEY: Hey! That's Novas!

BERYL: Sounds like we have a new suspect.

CASEY: I know. {pulls out the queen of spades} She's as dark as dark-hearted queen.

BERYL: We don't need metaphors, thank you.

{talk: planner}

STRONG BAD: What do you know about Marissa's planner?

CASEY: Well, she always wrote in it, all her plans. She never left anything out.

BERYL: Hm... sounds like a good thing to remember.

{Caseys testimony added to courd record}

MORE IN A BIT!
