Tip #1: Transcription Standardized Test
Look over your e-mail show. Make sure you follow the Transcription Standards. Let's look at a bad example versus a good example.
Bad Example
Strong Bad: Oh, it's time for e-mail.
Dear Strong Bad, (Insert Email Here) (Insert Witty Comment Here), (Insert Name Here)
Strong Bad: (typing) Well, insert name here, blah, blah, blah.
Homestar: (walks in) Blah Blah!
Good Example
STRONG BAD: Oh, it's time for e-mail.
Dear Strong Bad,
(Insert Email Here)
(Insert Witty Comment Here),
(Insert Name Here)
STRONG BAD: {typing} Well, insert name here, blah, blah, blah.
HOMESTAR RUNNER: {walks onscreen} Blah blah!
Break it down!
Let's break it down. Now, when characters are speaking, their names should be CAPITALIZED and bolded. In order to bold something, you put three 's in front of it and behind it, like so:
'''THIS WILL BE BOLD!'''
That makes this: THIS WILL BE BE BOLD! Also actions must be italicized. To do that you need to put two 's instead of three.
''THIS WILL BE ALL SLANTED-LIKE!''
That makes this: THIS WILL BE ALL SLANTED-LIKE! Also, actions need to be in {brackets}.
The <pre> versus <blockquote> tag will be explained later but that's not important right now. On to tip 2!
