You know when people say something "isn't half-bad?" This is the opposite. It is half-bad. Sometimes your riffs would be a hair away from being hilarious, or just utterly fails. The catch: it's much easier to keep somebody laughing than it is to start it. If you can get a series of really good riffs going, then you can start to venture up to a foot away from absolute hilarity as people keep enjoying themselves from momentum alone. If you look at individual riffs on MFT3K's Bell Quest, they aren't likely to be as hi-hi-hilarious as the whole thing is remembered as being. All in all, the only advice I can give you is to be funnier. If funny was quantifiable, you'd be about 3 inches from good.
