HRFWiki:Administrators
From Homestar Runner Fanstuff Wiki
Hi there! We're the people that run the wiki and make sure everything is fine and dandy. We are essentially the police of the wiki: if you break the Fanstuff Guidelines we will either warn you or bring down the ban-hammer (you will always get at least one warning, though). There are a few different types of admins but the guys (+ girl) you'll be meeting the most are the...
Sysops
- Bluebry
- Joshua
- Lunar Jesters (not very active)
- Shwoo
- Super Sam
Bureaucrats (see below) are also full sysops. In addition, the following administrators have the authority to enforce existing policy:
We can do a lot of things normal users can't, but the most important are blocking people and deleting / protecting pages. Along with those duties we make the rules and generally keep the wiki running. If you ever have a question about anything, just ask a sysop and we'll be happy to respond (as long as you're polite and don't annoy us!) One common question is "how can I become a sysop": rule number 1 is "don't ask". Beyond that, if you're a good community member and we're looking for a new sysop, you never know when you'll get a knock on your door. (Metaphorically, of course.)
For the most part, we are users too. We enjoy making and reading fanstuff. We enjoy discussing things on IRC and the forum. Although we ask for a certain level of respect, we will always be respectful back and will not abuse our powers willy-nilly*.
Although we do most of the administrative duties on the wiki there are a few things that we have to go to our bosses for. These guys are called...
Bureaucrats
These guys are generally for more technical things such as renaming users and upgrading the wiki. You won't see them around a whole lot and they tend to hang around the Knowledge Base more often but they still check in now and then. You will very rarely have to contact a bureaucrat directly: generally you can just talk to a sysop and we'll talk to the bureaucrats if necessary.
Reservists
We have a few reservists here on the wiki: these people are sysops on the Knowledge Base and also have sysop powers here. The difference between them and normal sysops is that reservists only use their powers to fix vandalism: everything else is left up to the normal sysops. Reservists will not interfere with the daily going-ons of the wiki.
* Usually.
