FBI Warning

The FBI warning on Volume 4 of Everything Else.

Cast (in order of appearance): Crack Stuntman

Transcript

{The standard FBI warning text appears on a background with constantly shifting colors.}

TEXT: Federal law provides severe civil and criminal penalties for the unauthorized reproduction, distribution or exhibition of copyrighted motion pictures, video tapes or video discs. Criminal copyright infringement is investigated by the FBI and may constitute a felony with a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine.

{Crack Stuntman pops up.}

CRACK STUNTMAN: BLAAAAAAH'm Crack Stuntm'n! Did you know that illegally copying DVD material costs us actors upwards of $30 a year? Think about it. Thirty dollars! That's enough for, like, three pizzas! {walks off to the right; his voice fading} Man, I could really go for three pizzas right now...

{The picture fades out.}

Intro

{Picture appears through static as though a TV is being turned on. Strong Bad appears on the screen, standing in Strong Badia, with the 5 for "Action Cool 5" in the corner of the screen.}

STRONG BAD: And now, on this Saturday morning, from Strong Badia's own Action Cool 5, it's the Strong Bad Email Show!

{An unseen announcer cuts in.}

ANNOUNCER: Actually, Strong Bad, it's the Homestar Runner Everything Else Show!

STRONG BAD: {annoyed} Oh! Holy... crap...

{A montage involving clips of several of the cartoons featured on this DVD is shown, set to the music of Homestar's photo montage song from montage. At the beginning of the montage, the 5 in "Action Cool 5" is shown wearing a pair of headphones and next to it, these words read: "In Strong Badian Stereo" and underneath it, in much smaller text: "Where Available".}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover; singing}
Partying... party party party
It's Saturday... party party party
On a morning... party party party
And a TV show... party party party
And we're partying... party party party
It's Saturday... party party party
And we're partying... party party party
Everybody does it todddaaayy...

{As Homestar finishes singing, the title, "Everything Else, Vol. 4", appears and images of all the characters cascade into place on the bottom of the screen, followed by the choices which cascade into place above the characters, letter by letter rapidly, until they all are there. An "Action Cool 5" logo bug appears in the lower-right corner. On the bottom of the screen, it reads, "A Sportsinterviews/Chimendez Production". Then, if you fail to make a selection on the menu after some time, the screen fades out and a commercial break bumper fades in, showing Homestar "holding" up a glass of melonade.}

Guess it's time for a break.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} The Homestar Runner Everything Else Show will be right back after these messages.

{From here, one of four random commercials is shown before returning to the main menu. They are for Fluffy Puff Marshmallows, Cheat Commandos Toys, Videlectrix, and The Show.}

Menus

Main Menu

The Saturday Morning theme runs throughout the entire DVD's menus.

Section Menus

Each of the individual sections' menus, like the main menu, are themed after Homestar Runner parodies of various Saturday Morning television shows from the 1960s through the 1990s.

  • Toons: "The Babies of Free Country, U.S.A.", featuring many of the Homestar characters as babies, plus Homestar as a nanny. Music is a longer version of the intro music for Homestar vs. Very, Very Little Girl.
  • Shorts: "Strong Badd Video", featuring Strong Bad performing against a psychedelic background. Music is a rock version of "You Really Can't Handle My Style".
  • Holidays: "The Homestar Runner Mysfit-steries", featuring the teen versions of the Homestar characters, with the conspicuous addition of a teen version of The Cheat (here known as Cheaty-Dee). Music is an instrumental version of "Havin' Fun With My Friends".
  • Other Features: "The Perfectly Baffling World of H.R. Hurricanesnstuf", featuring Puppet Homestar and Puppet Strong Bad. Mystery music.
  • Bonus: "Saturday Mornideo Games", featuring a group shot of some "real" kids, and most of the characters from the featured shows therein, such as Secret Collect, Thy Dungeonman, Math Kickers and Space Circus Catastrophe, with Vector Strong Bad in the background. Music is the synthesized drum tune heard on Main Page 21.

Fun Facts

Trivia

  • This DVD marks the first time that "These Peoples Try To Fade Me" is available. Previously, it was only available on the Strong Bad Sings CD and Podstar Runner.
  • This is the first Everything Else DVD since Volume 1 to feature interviews with the Brothers Chaps, appearing in "Here's How We Choose 'em".

Inside References

Intro

  • Crack Stuntman pops his head up the same way as he does in original, in which he was one of the "guest Bubs".
  • Crack Stuntman's dialog in the FBI Warning makes a reference to pizza.
  • Strong Bad and his surroundings are shown in CGI style, a la Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People. The Maps and Minions board game from Strong Badia the Free can be spotted beside him.
  • The way Strong Bad says, "Holy crap," is a reference to how he says it in A Jumping Jack Contest.
  • The intro segment contains two references to Everything Else, Volume 1:
    • When Strong Bad learns that it is a different Homestar DVD than what he was expecting, it refers to the FBI Warning part on Everything Else, Volume 1, in which Strong Bad says that there are no Strong Bad Emails on that DVD and suggests to the viewers they turn the DVD off.
    • The intro segment refers to Everything Else, Volume 1 by not only showing a proper intro (as opposed to just going to the menu), but also by showing off a rapid-fire montage of its contents.
  • The announcer at the intro is the same announcer as for "Saturday Mornideo Games" in web comics.
  • Homestar's montage song at the intro is a variation on his "end credits photo montage" song from montage.
  • The intro contains multiple fourth wall breaks.
  • The menu claims that this DVD is created as a joint production by Lem Sportsinterviews and A. Chimendez.

Menus

  • The Toons menu depicts the baby versions of the Homestar characters that were seen in highschool, in which Strong Bad explains what he and some of the other characters looked like in middle school.
  • The music for the Shorts menu is a rock version of "You Really Can't Handle My Style", first heard in Homestar Ruiner.
  • On the Shorts menu, Strong Bad has the same rocker wig and guitar that he has during the music video in rock opera.
  • "The Perfectly Baffling World of H.R. Hurricanesnstuf" was first referenced in unnatural.
  • "Saturday Mornideo Games" was introduced in web comics and more emphasized in 8-Bit Is Enough, by featuring not only cartoon versions of characters that were first seen in the game, but also the "real kids" that get sucked into the video games.

Commercials

  • The bumper at the start of the commercial is similar in design to an Easter egg from the facts, save for the dialog and Homestar holding up a glass of melonade instead of a popsicle.
  • Cheat Commandos Toys: This commercial is similar, but not identical, to the Cheat Commandos toon. Among the differences:
    • The copyright at the start, 1986, has been replaced by 1989.
    • The entire second half of the toon, involving the actual TV show, is gone.
    • Additional playsets, toys and vehicles are mentioned and featured. The new toys are Oliver Smidgen, Reynold's Brother, Crack Stuntman, Gunkiller, Agent Chimendez and the Topplegangers. The new playsets are the Arctic (from The Next Epi-Snowed) and the Ramshankle.

DVD Artwork

  • The cover displays all the characters as seen on the cover of TV Time (from the TV Time toons menu), but with the addition of Homsar (found in the lower-left corner beside Coach Z) and the name of the DVD replacing the message, "Homestar Runner and Company: Eating Pie and Getting Doppy".
  • The interior displays the contents, also in the style of the same menu, complete with channel IDs, running time lengths and the exact same descriptions as on the website (i.e., "Jibblies 2"'s description is "Come on in here indeed!", "Somber Vacation"'s description is "Strong Sad vacays at the beach?", etc.).

Real-World References

  • The "5" in "Action Cool 5" wearing the headphones and the information about stereo is a reference to the 1980s "NBC In Stereo" logo, which featured a TV screen wearing headphones, and on the TV was the NBC peacock. Next to it was the message: "In Stereo Where Available".
  • The Toons menu is based on various Saturday morning cartoon shows which feature child versions of classic cartoon characters, such as Muppet Babies and The Flintstone Kids.
  • The Shorts menu is inspired by cartoons produced by Filmation during the 1970s, such as The Archie Show and The Brady Kids. The title "Strong Badd Video" is a reference to Kidd Video, which aired on NBC from 1984 to 1987.
  • The Holidays menu is somewhat modeled after the various cartoon shows involving teen detectives with funny sidekicks, such as Scooby-Doo and Jabberjaw.
  • The Other Features menu appears to be modeled after H.R. Pufnstuf. Puppet Homestar is in the title role and Puppet Strong Bad is Wilhelmina W. Witchiepoo.
  • The Bonus menu, given how the characters from the shows featured in Saturday Mornideo Games are shown, is themed to various TV shows involving multiple video games, such as Saturday Supercade and Captain N: The Game Master.

Differences Between Website and DVD

  • In The Baloneyman:
    • The King of Town requests, "Four of everything" and Bubs says, "Alright" before being asked by the king if he has "Five of everything".
  • In Where My Hat Is At?:
    • The ability to alternate between the cartoon and the corresponding page from the book has been deleted; only the cartoon can now be seen.
      • However, you can still access the book. It is now a separate Easter egg on the Shorts menu.
  • In both Jibblies 2 and Most In the Graveyard:
    • The Homsar Easter egg is enabled automatically.
    • All of the ending Easter eggs play automatically.
      • Jibblies 2 plays them in this order: Marzipan, Strong Bad, Strong Sad, Bubs, Homestar Runner, The Poopsmith, and The King of Town.
      • Most In the Graveyard plays them in this order: Homestar Runner, Strong Bad, Strong Sad, The Poopsmith, Coach Z, Bubs, Marzipan, and The King of Town.
    • You no longer have the opportunity to see who is dressed up as who at the end, like you can on the website.
    • In Most In the Graveyard, instead of cutting to the group shot after the end title, it fades to the shot.
  • In both Fan Costumes '07 and '08:
    • The option of toggling from one picture to another has been disabled.
    • The screen fades out when the slide show ends.
    • In Fan Costumes '08, the Peacey P pumpkin Easter egg is enabled automatically, as the very last slide before the toon ends.
  • In Happy Dethemberween:
    • The Homsar chimes Easter egg has been disabled.
  • In Sickly Sam's Big Outing:
    • At the title, underneath "Based on the vaudeville stylings of Wibe Chimendez", there is a second line that reads "copyright 1941".
  • In Rotten Eggs:
    • At the end, instead of "Sbemail next week" (for obvious reasons), the old egg's greenish innards spell out "End" in big letters.
  • In Teen Girl Squad Issue 14:
    • The Strong Badman comic Easter egg about Scantron has had its issue number revised. On the website, it's #87; on the DVD, it's #92.
  • In Workin' On the Game:
    • The Easter egg at the end is automatically enabled.
  • In Behind the Bad Chapter 2: The Heist:
    • The version used is the shorter version (unlike the SBCG4AP Collector's DVD, which used the longer version).
