Cheatball: Second Generation/Why

From Homestar Runner Fanstuff Wiki

Shadow Scythe here. I haven't really contributed much to the wiki for, well, almost a year now. Loads of the users who thrived back in the day have quieted down or left entirely. But I'm not giving up. I've got one last trick up my sleeve. It's a work in progress for now, and I'm still working out the basics even. But believe me, you will not be disappointed...

What is it?

Cheatball: Second Generation is going to be something that, to the best of my knowledge, this wiki has never suffered to obtain in a very long time. What is it? It's not an Email Show, not an interactive, not even an awesome new sprite comic. It's even better than a Flash cartoon series, even the ones that ended up being, you know, good. This project will even surpass the greatness of my previous ambition, Homestar Runner's Trading Card Game. My friends, I'm talking about a decent, developed game coded from scratch in Flash.

But why?

Everyone has noticed that the activity levels on the wiki have reached terrible lows as of late. Everyone's either massing towards the interactive stuff or lounging about at the forums. Until recent, I wasn't exempt. I remembered the fun we had back in 2005, 2006-ish. Tampo Emails were running strong, as were Ekul's and Mitchell's sprite comics. Gunhaver emails were great too, I wish I had gotten around to reading more of them. All in all, great fanstuff abounded, and everyone was well nourished with a healthy diet of bread&sugar and flying tacos. I miss those days.

I'm trying to bring them back in the best way I can manage.

I will personally try to attract many a user from the old days back to the wiki to help with this project. I'll be recruiting some of the long-gone users who were once active and thriving. Even if they stay just long enough to work on this project, that would make my day.

This kind of thing probably won't go anywhere, or even get a real start.

That so?

Well, it has a long way to go, that's for sure. Also, it doesn't quite live up to the stuff I said up there... yet. It's a promising start. I said it before and I'll say it again; you will not be disappointed. Interested? I'd check out the forum thread for more information.
