Transcript

{The screen fades in Ductape's basement. Ductape is shooting darts with Strong Bad, Strong Mad and The Cheat.}

DUCTAPE: That's 75 points. I'm on fire today.

STRONG BAD: Ductape, your basement is awesome. Not Strong Bad awesome, but a different kind of awesome. It's like a basement and a cave, with darts and antique billiards.

{The view changes as Strong Bad points to the billiard table behind them. Strong Mad is about to shoot another dart.}

DUCTAPE: This place would be nirvana if it had a sofa and TV. Sort of like the perfect place to show movie screenings with a party of friends.

STRONG BAD: If you ever do, and it's a movie I like, count me in on that action.

THE CHEAT: <Seconded on that, Duct-to-the-tape.>

{Strong Mad shoots his dart, grunting. The dart lands dead center as the dartboard falls off the wall.}

STRONG MAD: BULLSEYE! I WIN!

STRONG BAD: Um, I guess we should go home now.

DUCTAPE: Sure. It's been awhile since I checked my fanmail. I think it's been almost a year and this is only my 9th one. I've got to have several e-mails in my inbox by now.

THE CHEAT: <Good luck with that.>

{Everyone walks up the stairs. Ductape turns off the lights. The next shot is him at his compy, in his room.}

DUCTAPE: Four new e-mails? Well, it's no inbox record, but it's something! I'm gonna have a blast with these.

{Ductape opens one of the e-mails.}

Dear Ductape Roller Blader,
Have you seen the Yankee's game? Because
I didn't and I forgot to tape it, and since you
have tape in your name I'm pretty sure you did,
So I'm coming over to borrow it.
Ricky Star Rocker

DUCTAPE: Well, at least he didn't make a duck crack. Ricky, let me tell you. My real name is Duncan Blader. Ductape is a nickname that I got several years ago during this incident when I got caught in the rain, skating home because mom forgot to pick me up. So it's the wrong tape. I'm talking duct tape, not magnetic tape. Besides, I'm not much of a fan of sports games. Unless I'm playnig in them. So, unfourtunately, I don't have a tape. But, it's your lucky day. Because you took the time to send me an e-mail, I'll try to find a replacement.

{Transition to Ductape rolling over to Bubs's in a sillouette form. Ductape approaches the counter.}

BUBS: Ductape! Fancy seeing you here. What sort of dilema have you come to me for a solution today?

DUCTAPE: Here's the thing. I got an e-mail from a guy named Ricky. He says he missed the game and he thinks I have a tape for him to borrow. But I don't tape games. Maybe a movie, but no game.

BUBS: Well, I store a whole pile of tapes in the basement. Step into my office and have a look at my inventory.

{Ductape runs out back and into the stand. Bubs stands on a trapdoor which moves in a slow, hydraulic motion down into a huge storage room filled with junk food, fun memrobillia, pinball, books, and other great stuff. Bubs and Ductape wander to a slightly-lit corner with a shelf full of old tapes.}

DUCTAPE: This place is like, tape central. Do you ever host midnight screenings?

BUBS: I once sold tickets to a bunch of tourists from PackerStan to watch the Packers game.

DUCTAPE: PackerStan?

BUBS: {sighing} Winsconsin. The place with the Green Bay Packers.

DUCTAPE: Oh yeah. I saw that on an eppie of That 70's Show. But I'm looking for a Yankee's game. The most recent one, because he forgot to watch it.

BUBS: Let's look in the sports section.

{Bubs goes to the second-to-last bottom shelf which is labeled "sport games". Bubs runs his hands over titles like "CGNU Golf Club Games", "Red Wings Stanley Cup Championships" and "Jacen's BB game at the Palace". A title labeled "Yankees '06" is where Bubs stops.}

BUBS: Yup, I got the tape. I'll let you rent it for about $1.06.

DUCTAPE: What's the 6 cents for?

BUBS: Sales tax. And just in case it comes later than Thursday, I might as well give you the late fee of watching the 'stand while I tape the next Packers game. The PackerStan guys are counting on me.

{Ductape fishes the change from one of his duct-tape pockets. He gets back to the hydraulic elevator.}

BUBS: Thank you for shopping at Blockbubster!

{Later, Ricky is standing on the stoop of Ductape's house when Ductape swoops in on his converse shoe/skates, holding out his keys on a beaded lanyard.}

RICKY: Ductape! I thought you left for PackerStan you were gone so long.

DUCTAPE: I don't plan on going to PackerStan. Any time soon. I like Battle Creek, though. They make cereal there!

RICKY: Yeah. So, do you have the tape?

DUCTAPE: {hands tape over} Yeah. Just return it to Bubs before Thursday. I was planning on renting Angry Beavers on DVD later, and I can only get one tape at a time.

RICKY: I'll give it back before you know it.

{Ricky runs off toward his house. Ductape walks inside.}

  • Click on Ductape's stoop at the end to see The Cheat trying to rent a video.

{The Cheat is over at Bubs's stand. He is holding a tape for "Red Wings Stanley Cup Championships}

BUBS: Thanks for returning your Blockbubster tape on time, The Cheat. Do you plan on getting another rental?

THE CHEAT: < I'm planning on getting a screening on the Angry Beavers DVD.>

BUBS: Sorry, that's on hold for Ductape. But I'm sure he won't mind if you saw it with him!

{Bubs hands The Cheat the DVD}
